The key to the golf swing with ANY club is swinging the club on the correct swing plane. The correct swing plane is dictated by the lie angle of the club that you are using. That is why a wedge swing is more upright than a driver swing because the wedge has a more upright lie than the driver.
Popular golf putting instruction tells you that the putter either moves straight back and straight through the target line or that it arcs around your spine depending on the type of stroke that you want to use. Both of these concepts are difficult to implement because they ignore the most important component of the stroke: the putter!
The putting stroke is neither straight back nor is it an arc. The putting stroke is just like swinging every other club in your bag. That means that the putting stroke has a plane and that plane is dictated by the lie angle of the putter.
Most putters are made with a 71 degree lie angle and that is why the S-Factor is inclined at 71 degrees: so that you will swing the putter on the correct plane. Try the S Factor and your putting stroke will be plane and you will be a better putter.
To get a feel for the proper putting stroke plane or path you can try the following exercise:
  1. Set up to the S Factor with the heel of the putter lightly touching the Golf IQ logo.
  2. Make 5 practice strokes without stopping following the arc drawn on the S Factor.
  3. Make 5 practice strokes with your eyes closed make sure that the putter stays on the S Factor throughout each stroke.
  4. Hit 5 putts to feel the proper putting stroke plane.
The proper putting stroke path is the first key to a solid putting stroke give the S-Factor a try for 15 minutes a day and your will make more putts or your money back.
