Golf IQ Spot Liner Golf Ball Marking Template
Overview
SPOT LINER
The most common cause of a missed short putt is not a push or a pull. It is misalignment. Alignment is a particular challenge in golf because you stand to the side of the ball and your depth perception changes as you move from behind the ball or to the address position. The Golf IQ Spot Liner provides a fast and easy way to learn how to line up your putts . There are many templates that allow players to mark a straight line on their ball that can line up down the target line. But these golfers still miss short putts. Why?
Because their clubface is not necessarily square to the target line. The Golf IQ Spot Liner solves the problem. By marking a line perpendicular to the target line, you can be confident that not only is your ball lined up at the target but more importantly so is your clubface.
- It's legal for tournament play
- It's like having a caddie lining up your putts on every hole
- Pros mark their balls for alignment, why don’t you?

What Can It Do for Your Game?
Marking your ball with the Golf IQ Spot Liner ensures that you can line up putts and tee shots accurately.
Marking your ball in this manner also ensures that your depth perception does not play tricks on you. Have you ever been over a putt and looked at the hole and it appeared as though you were lined up incorrectly? This indecision is caused by the change of visual perception of the target line as you move from behind the ball to the address position. Trusting the lines on the Golf IQ Spot Liner will ensure that you are lined up accurately to the target line every time.
How It Works
Follow this routine and you will be certain to have accurate alignment on your next putt leaving you to concentrate on the putt’s speed.
2 PERPENDICULAR MARKS
This routine is for a straight putt. For a breaking putt instead of lining the ball up at the hole you have to line up to the putt’s apex.
- Using the Golf IQ Spot Liner template mark 2 perpendicular lines on your golf ball
- Mark your ball and adjust it so that one line is pointing straight at the center of the hole
- Stand behind the ball on the target line to confirm that your ball is lined up correctly
- Take your grip on the putter and move into your address position
- Set the putter behind the ball so that the top edge of your putter is parallel to the second line on your golf ball
- Position your eyes shoulders forearms hips and feet parallel to the target line
- Take one look at the hole to get a feel for the distance of the putt
- Look back at the ball and execute your stroke
*If you are unsure of your line between steps 7 & 8 start over and make sure that your ball is lined up accurately. Do not try to adjust over the ball!
